The Night

Soft candlelight flickers
and the gentle spiced-rose fragrance
fills the room…

Outside rain falls softly, in
cleansing
soaking
dripping
dancing drops
and my senses fill with the comfort
of golden warmth…
and my eyes grow heavy…

and my head and heart content…
as another precious day of life
fades gently into the night.
