Play of Light – Underwater
Life can deal a sudden, unexpected blow that knocks you down and hurts so bad that you think you could never recover. But then, when you are knocked flat, all the wind out of your wings, so to speak, Big Hands lift you ever so gently. They rearrange your seemingly broken parts into a more comfortable, bearable posture, and just hold you gently, and keep you warm. For a while, they hold you in the dark, but you relax and let your heart slow down, and you take a little rest. When you are ready, you have a little stretch, and His Big Hand that was covering you and protecting you is lifted, so that you can blink and look around, and see that the world is still beautiful, and your friends and family are still around you, that the light is still glistening on the grass and leaves, and there is still life left in you. God sings over you and holds you in the palm of His hand, so that you can feel His life and warmth, as long as you need to, before you are again ready to stretch out your wings and fly. And when you do, God smiles and the world rejoices. You now have a new testimony. A fresh encounter and revelation of mercy and protection and ever-present tenderness towards you. The love of God provides momentum, fresh wind beneath your wings, and you set out to share His goodness and grace with whoever He brings across your path. You may be knocked down, but you’re not knocked out, and your story is not over. You, like me, may want to say “thank you, God” for this crash and burn moment. The world is bright and beautiful. It’s the perfect habitat God created for us. Every living thing is connected! The world is inclusive and expansive, and it’s the love and word of God that keeps it turning! The breath of life that comes from the Father is a gift to us each day – to live and testify of His goodness and grace, and to bring glory to His holy name. And, in that, there is meaning and purpose, and fullness of joy, where we sing the song we’re wired to sing, and where we do what we can with what we have in our hands.
