Creation of swimming and flying creatures on day 5 constituted the first form of living, breathing creatures on earth. In terms of artistic principles, the breath of life can be likened to the “indefinable something” that constitutes ‘Art’ with a capital A, and the criterion differentiating life from LIFE.
This painting focuses on a pebbled creek bed, found within many of our Riparian zones on the Sunshine Coast. The creeks are filled with cool fresh water where the fish play; dappled shadows dance over the rocks, sunspots glisten and reflections float; and designer dragonflies hover over it all.
It beckons that we look deeper – beyond surface issues – into the substance and foundation of life. It asks that we notice the reflections of heaven, the refracted rainbows, and the lines of light that touch our world; that we nurture what feeds and refreshes us; and that our hearts are opened to the magnificence and glory within our habitat, and our everyday.
