An Epiphany

I think this painting visually captures a miniscule essence of the sensation where heaven touches earth and something miraculous happens or is revealed.

When I received healing from Cervical Cancer, I knew something incredible was happening to me – my entire body warmed up, and there was this sensation of something overwhelmingly enormous or expansive that permeated the space – even the space between particles of air. Words cannot explain it – and nor can paint – so the offering bell I am ringing (thanks Leonard Cohen) is not only cracked, but it’s jolly rusty and riddled with holes!

I’m trying to paint colours beyond words, where colour is tangible, where light has weight, where substance sparkles like jewels, and where a myriad of sparkles dance in the air even when the air is so still that it is like a page in a book. I am trying to paint where Love is translated into substance that glows like a warm golden light, where time is fluid yet solid, where a human being has no choice but to fall to their knees – and there is no fear, no judgement – just purest Love.

Humanity across the ages has warped who God really is. And all I want to do is provide a glimpse of this amazing character that, like any artist who is true to themselves, has poured everything of himself into his Magnum Opus – us and our natural environment.
