Exhibition Outcomes

My RADF Grant-funded body of work found its way into the world via the “Attention to de tale” exhibition in January.

The aim of every artist is to get the work out into the world, to engage in dialogue with humanity, or express depths or experiences beyond words.  There is none I know that aim, or intend, to merely gather the work in a barn, or on their own walls.  It’s like having an adult child – it’s good and healthy that they have to make their way out into the world, and make a contribution of some sort to society and humanity.

As an artist, I am represented by a number of galleries, which enables my work to continuously be presented to the public – but the solo exhibition offers something very precious in the form of the opportunity to personally connect with viewers, purchasers and collectors of one’s work.  “Attention to de tale” opened doors for the art to be seen by more than 300 people. I witnessed viewers weep in front of my paintings – many, many hearts and lives were visibly touched.  I was SO blessed by 3 people taking the step towards salvation, and I was able to pray for them – right there in the middle of an art exhibition!  Many, many people spoke of the power of the combination of word and visuals – the power of the parable – and I was so encouraged in my journey.

The collaborative installation resulted in expressions of faith; commitment to Creation and the nurture of our environment; creativity; and rest.  Eyes were opened to the beautiful detail and “de tale” in our world…

Commercially the exhibition was a success – not only because of the Grant from Council and Arts Queensland – but by the sale of 7 large and 1 small painting; 2 vessels (plus one lead); all the books I had on hand; and the cushions, aprons and journals.   The exhibition led to 2 commissions; prospects of corporate gifts in the form of placemats featuring my work; and innumerable personnal connections of foreseeable future significance – not to mention a few inter-state and international (Canada & USA) connections and leads.  A pastor who ministers up north will use my book to demonstrate the link of the Word to the land (and there is a prospect of a future artist-visit); precious connections were made with local Councillors and within various branches of local Council; and the wider Sunshine Coast community – with  many new friendships forged.

My venture into sculpture is a very exciting outcome and future prospect – the vessels developed as a result of uni studies and grant research were enthusiastically received; as were the paintings featuring new textural grounds and vivid colour palette.  And as the exhibition drew to a close, I found my way towards the next body of work.  It whispers of Living Water, sunspots and shadows, ripples and reflections, bubbles and depths…

Truly WONDERFUL exhibition outcomes…
